Austell GA, Cobb County

Austell was established in 1885, named after General Alfred Austell. Initially, Austell was a preferred hunting spot and was known as Salt Springs. Later, the Methodist Christians built a great arbor at Lithia Springs and started holding annual camp meetings in the present-day territory of Austell. Soon after, some of the people liked it there so much they settled there permanently. Mr. G.O. Mozeley, then owner of the property around Austell, eventually sub-divided an area of 40 acres and this led to the birth of the city. The Georgia-Pacific railway line led to the development of Austell.

Austell is a nice quiet place to raise a family is you are family-minded. It is a city that is in a very convenient crossroads. South is Douglasville, North is Kennesaw, East is Marietta/Smyrna. If you get on East-West connector you can get to the Buckhead area in 25 minutes. Lots of shopping and South Cobb high school is right on Austell, Rd. Lots of recreation and easy access to the Silver Comet Trail. All in all, a nice little town.
